MAT 2025 Overview

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is an entrance exam for admission in MBA and similar post graduate programmes in management. MAT 2025 scores will be the basis for admission in over 600 b-schools in India. The exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) and is conducted four times in a year – February, May, August and December. MAT is conducted in three main testing modes – CBT, PBT and IBT. Candidates can appear for one or two times in a year in any mode and the test with highest scores will be evaluated for admission.

Some of the highlights of MAT 2025 are:

  • Conducted By – AIMA
  • Mode of Test – CBT, PBT and IBT
  • Medium of Exam –  English
  • Total Exam – 4 times in a year

What are the MAT 2025 exam modes?

MAT 2025 is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) and offers several modes to accommodate different preferences and circumstances for candidates. Here are the modes available for the MAT exam:

  • Paper-Based Test (PBT)

In this traditional mode, candidates take a pen-and-paper test at designated test centers. Answers are marked on an OMR sheet. It’s best suited for candidates comfortable with the physical exam setup and writing on paper.

  • Computer-Based Test (CBT)

In the CBT mode, candidates take the exam on a computer at a designated test center. It is similar to online exams taken in a controlled environment. This mode is ideal for candidates familiar with computers and comfortable navigating online question formats.

  • Internet-Based Test (IBT)

The IBT mode allows candidates to take the MAT exam from their homes or any other convenient location. Candidates must have a computer with a stable internet connection and a webcam, as they are proctored online to ensure test security. This mode became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic and is ideal for those who prefer to take the test without traveling to a center.

Candidates can choose the mode that best suits their preferences, and AIMA also allows candidates to opt for more than one mode (for an additional fee) if they wish to increase their chances of securing a good score. Each mode follows the same syllabus, structure, and scoring system, ensuring consistency across all test formats.
