Revision Strategy Review the past year’s frequently asked question papers, and keep the last few weeks for revising the formulas, which are common in the MBA subjects.
Section-wise approach Practice more mental calculations and shortcuts. Build vocabulary by reading newspapers and editorials. Focus more on speed and pattern recognition.
Stress Management Take breaks between study hours. Practice relaxation techniques.
Resources and Tools Books, Online Mocks, Apps, and Tools like Unacademy, Online YouTube lectures.

Common Mistakes by the students and How to avoid Them

Students who sit for MBA Entrance Exams make some common mistake that hampers their overall performance.

    • Last-minute cramming – Increases stress and confusion. Instead of this practice more on last-minute revisions. Focus on memorizing the key formulas rather than learning a whole new topic. Balance the preparation for all the MBA subjects.
    • Ignoring the past year papers, Question patterns, difficulty level, and frequently tested topics can all be easily understood when one looks into the past year papers. To enhance the performance, at least 10 to 15 question papers need to be solved.
    • Lack of Time management – Keep a clock timer when one sits to solve the paper. Increase the speed and accuracy with the timer.
    • Neglecting the non-quantitative section – Every section should be given equal time. Keep a balance between the sections to secure the sectional cut-off easily.

What comes next: After the MBA Entrance Exam

The next step towards the MBA is Group Discussion, Personal Interviews, and Written Ability tests. Start studying current affairs, practice mock interviews. MBA Vs PGDM: Difference between  MBA and PGDM, Career Scope, Salary Difference and more!

MBA and PGDM – A Brief Overview

The choice between an MBA (Master of Business Administration) and a PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) largely depends on an individual’s career goals and preference for curriculum flexibility.

An MBA is a degree program offered through universities or affiliated colleges, whether public or private. MBA programs generally have a more standardized curriculum, which is only revised every few years. This consistency offers a solid academic framework but may sometimes lag behind fast-evolving industry needs. However, certain progressive universities do work to refresh their MBA syllabus regularly, though less frequently than PGDM courses.

In contrast, a PGDM is a diploma course offered by recognized or autonomous business schools. One of its key advantages is the ability for these institutions to update the curriculum independently, ensuring that course content reflects the latest industry trends and skills in demand. This adaptability helps PGDM programs align more closely with current business requirements.

Both paths have distinct advantages: An MBA provides the stability and recognition of a university-backed degree, while PGDM programs offer flexibility and immediate industry relevance.

    MAT 2025 Overview

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is an entrance exam for admission in MBA and similar post graduate programmes in management. MAT 2025 scores will be the basis for admission in over 600 b-schools in India. The exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) and is conducted four times in a year – February, May, August and December. MAT is conducted in three main testing modes – CBT, PBT and IBT. Candidates can appear for one or two times in a year in any mode and the test with highest scores will be evaluated for admission.

Some of the highlights of MAT 2025 are:

    • Official Website– mat.aima.in
    • Conducted By – AIMA
    • Mode of Test – CBT, PBT and IBT
    • Medium of Exam –  English
    • Total Exam – 4 times in a year

What are the MAT 2025 exam modes?

MAT 2025 is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) and offers several modes to accommodate different preferences and circumstances for candidates. Here are the modes available for the MAT exam:

    • Paper-Based Test (PBT)

In this traditional mode, candidates take a pen-and-paper test at designated test centers. Answers are marked on an OMR sheet. It’s best suited for candidates comfortable with the physical exam setup and writing on paper.

    • Computer-Based Test (CBT)

In the CBT mode, candidates take the exam on a computer at a designated test center. It is similar to online exams taken in a controlled environment. This mode is ideal for candidates familiar with computers and comfortable navigating online question formats.

    • Internet-Based Test (IBT)

The IBT mode allows candidates to take the MAT exam from their homes or any other convenient location. Candidates must have a computer with a stable internet connection and a webcam, as they are proctored online to ensure test security. This mode became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic and is ideal for those who prefer to take the test without traveling to a center.

Candidates can choose the mode that best suits their preferences, and AIMA also allows candidates to opt for more than one mode (for an additional fee) if they wish to increase their chances of securing a good score. Each mode follows the same syllabus, structure, and scoring system, ensuring consistency across all test formats.

    3. Is XAT harder than CAT?

XAT is often considered more challenging than CAT due to its unique sections like Decision Making, which involves complex ethical dilemmas. The verbal section in XAT is also seen as more difficult.

    4. What is the XAT exam used for?

The XAT exam is primarily used for admission to postgraduate management programs in various Indian institutes, most notably XLRI Jamshedpur. Over 250 institutions accept XAT scores, making it a key gateway for candidates seeking MBA and PGDM courses. It evaluates candidates on their aptitude in areas like verbal ability, decision making, and quantitative skills.

    5. Who is eligible for the XAT 2025?

To be eligible for XAT 2025, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. There is no specific age limit, and both fresh graduates and working professionals can apply. Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible, provided they complete their degree before the XAT 2025 admission process.

    6. Does any IIM accept the XAT score?

No, IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) do not accept XAT scores for their admission processes. Instead, they primarily accept scores from the CAT (Common Admission Test). However, some other prestigious institutions, like XLRI Jamshedpur, use XAT scores for their management programs. Candidates interested in IIMs should focus on preparing for the CAT.

    7. Is 24 a good score in XAT?

A score of 24 in XAT is generally considered low, as the exam’s scoring system is competitive, with top candidates often scoring above 30 or even higher. Each participating institution sets its own cutoff, but typically, a score of around 30-35 is needed for good chances at premier institutes like XLRI.

    8. What is 8 marks in XAT?

In the XAT exam, scoring 8 marks typically corresponds to an approximate percentile of 85, indicating that the candidate performed better than 85% of test-takers. 9. Is GK counted in XAT?

Yes, the General Knowledge (GK) section is included in the XAT 2025 exam. It assesses candidates’ awareness of current affairs and static general knowledge. However, the GK section does not have a negative marking scheme, and its score is not used for calculating the overall percentile. Instead, it is evaluated separately and may be considered during the selection process by certain institutions, such as XLRI.

    10. How many essays to attempt in XAT?
